ABOUT US

Dear Reader,

You had many options on what to do with your time, and you ended up here. For that, I want to thank you. Secondly, I want you to know that we at Gold Fang are hyper-focused on delivering high quality art, whether that’s music, books, fashion, or film/video, where we drive the culture forward, and it’s never going to be for commercial bottom line or to sacrifice the artists vision of what they want to create. We want to release great art, by great people, who have something to say. We want to inspire other people and artists. We want to create conversations. Build community. Share love. Show people the impossible is possible.

This vision started in 2004, when EMERALD MOON RECORDS was born. What started as a passion project in Baltimore, MD., where we started the careers of ALL TIME LOW (Hopeless, Fueled by Ramen, Interscope, Warner) & LADY RADIATOR (Interscope), turned into a full fledge movement. Being told you can't do something is very powerful, especially to someone who has a fire and a passion to not only release incredible music, by incredible people, but someone who wanted to disrupt the independent music industry. I had no idea what I was doing, slinging CD's and vinyl out of the trunk of my car and a tiny one bedroom apartment, but after 8 years and 33 releases later, through many ups and downs, true friendships bonded for life, memories, mistakes and learnings along the way, I saw the physical and digital music landscape change. Because of this Emerald Moon went dark in 2012.

Dormant since 2012, a fire and passion have been burning inside of me. Unfinished business. During these years I've been learning, growing, working, expanding, developing. A fire that has never stopped burning and has only gotten hotter. Today I am ready to do this one more time. This time stronger, smarter, more focused, learning from my mistakes, and more agile to the change. We will release music, books, art. We will help artists launch their brands, and help them live out their dreams. This is the start of another movement, and we want to be the greatest to ever do it.

Now in 2026, “labels” are perceived more as a distributor or financial unit rather than a creator of art. I want Gold Fang to be a creator, a roster of artists, a brand. I want it to emulate the labels I looked up to in the 90’s and 00’s where I searched on the back of records for the logo, and would buy music unheard because I trusted that logo.

To me that is the culture that we’re trying to represent from a brand point of view. A place where music, art and culture are fostered in a really deliberate and very thoughtful way. Let's take over the world together, one band, one artist, one human at a time.

I hope this speaks to you.

Matt.
